Photo Ordering FAQ

How do I find the File Name?
On the older format it was part of the URL when you had clicked on the thumbnail and gotten to the larger photo. It looks like this ==>

In the new gallery format it is found on the same page as larger photo at the top left ==>

Explain images burned to a CD.
Either web images or publication images can be burned to a CD. There is a one time fee of $5, on top of the cost of the images, that covers the time required to burn them and the cost of the CD. Any number of photo can be burned to the CD.

What is the difference between web images and publication images?
Web images are small, highly compressed images designed for displaying on a web site or e-mailing to family and friends. They are 500 pixels on the longest side. Images this size can not be printed with any quality.

Publication images are very large images with minimal compression. They are designed for printing in newsletters, publications, or making your own prints from. They can be printed generally up to 8"x10" (or some files even larger) with good quality results.

Do I have to pay shipping/handling on files sent to an e-mail address?
Yes, there is a handling charge for e-mailed images, as each file that is sent to you is color corected, cropped and edited before it is sent, all of which takes time to do.

Can I use photos directly from your web site for my web site?
Not without asking permission first. Taking photos (with or without copyright sign or logo on them) is theft and copyright infringement. You can purchase web size images for a very reasonable rate of $5.

Is there any discount for bulk orders?
Yes, but it is a case by case basis. If you plan on making a large order I can give you a discount, especially on digital image files, but you will have to contact me to discuss this further.

Is there a discount if I order both prints and digital files of the same image?
Yes, but again it will depent on the size of print that you are ordering and quantity.

Some photos look blurry, will they be when you print them?
If a photo looks very blurry as an image on the site it will likely be blurry as a print. If it is just slightly blurry then it will probably be fairly sharp as a print and the minor blur is due to compression of the image. I try to only put moderately sharp images up except in the case where a dog is moving or captures a unique look or pose.

Photo on left will print blurry, photo on right will print sharp and in focus.

Photos taken in indoor venues WILL be LESS SHARP than those taken in natural light due to higher ISO speed, slower shutter speed, and artificial lighting.
