Maddie is my heart dog and everything that a Belgian should be... biddable, athletic, intelligent, enthusiastic, confident and beautiful! For a belgian she is very outgoing and loves most everyone. She has always been able to take whatever comes at her in stride and never gets too stressed by anything. She is the easiest dog to live with, but ready to do something at the drop of a hat. She has been a dream dog as a first show dog and I thank her breeder every day for letting this special girl come into my life as a first Belgian! She has set a very high standard for any future dogs to follow.

In the conformation ring Maddie finished easily at 13 months with a group placement from the puppy classes (owner/handled) under respected judge Michelle Billings. At her first national specialty at one day over nine months she placed first in both sweeps and her regular class. Judges have commented on her excellent movement, balanced outline and confident disposition.

In obedience Maddie achieved a high in trial out of the novice A classes and finished her CD in three straight trials. She has exceptional focus and is a determined worker. She is an avid retriever and very upbeat in the ring. She finished her CDX title in early 2007, all legs with placements.

In agility, Maddie has tremendous enthusiasm, drive, and speed; now if her handler (me) were only as adept and had more time to compete!! She has earned her agility titles very quickly considering the very small number of trials that we are able to enter each year and her times are always withing the fastest in her classes. Unfortunately between litters and my life getting busy Maddie has not done agility since 2005, but we hope to get back to it in 2009.

Madisyn has also played on sheep a few times and received complementary comments from her HIC judges with lots of Belgian herding instinct. In addition she received her Canine Good Citizen certificate at five months of age and her Future Messenger Dog certificate at the 2004 Belgian Sheepdog National Specialty.

Maddie has produced two litters, one at Isengard and one here at Aphelion. In her first litter she produced Group Placing Ch. Slide'N Into Bayview NAJ RN CGC Select '07 HIT (Slick). Unfortunately five out of the eight boys in Maddie's combined litters out of two unrelated sires (2/4-first litter, 3/4-second) were either monorchid or cryptorchid. As a result she will not be bred again and will be spayed in 2009.

At this time Maddie is mostly just my best friend and companion, though we do hope to return to agility in 2009 and maybe work on her UD too (but we'll have to see how busy the year is!)
