graphite pencil commissions
Have a richly detailed, life-like portrait drawn of a pet or animal in graphite or scratchboard. Preserve the memories for a lifetime with a Cathy Sheeter original portrait of your pet. Drawings/etchings are done from your photograph(s). Most drawings take 6-8 weeks to be completed. Plan in advance for busy times of year, such as Christmas! Drawings can be rush completed for additional cost (minimum of four weeks). All species of animals and all coat types are invited!
The clearer the photos the greater detail can be given to the drawing. If individual hairs and whiskers can be seen in the photo they can be drawn in and it will add a more realistic feel to your drawing. For scratchboard works photo references must be very clear and sharp. If more than one photograph can be sent that is also helpful. Click here for some tips on photographing pets. 5"x7"=$450 B&W/$550 color

Scratchboard is a very slow and time consuming medium. Works can often take up to a hundred hours or more to complete. There is no 'fast' way to do scratchboard and still get the level of results that I strive for.
Price given above is for the first animal in the drawing with minimal background. Smaller sizes (smaller than 11"x14") are only suitable for head/shoulder portraits, not full body.
Commissioned works are priced without framing. I can do the framing for you, but there is an additional charge. I will evaluate your photo and let you know the total cost before I begin working. Larger sizes, additional subjects and complex backgrounds available at an additional cost.
Twenty-five percent of the expected cost is non-refundable and due before the portrait is started. This amount will be subtracted from the final cost.
Allow at least 6-8 weeks from when I get your photos until you will receive your drawing. Rush drawings (less than 8 weeks for completion) can be completed for an additional cost (minimum of four weeks).

Drawings can be completed from large print photos or large digital files, or a combination of digital and actual photos. All photos and digital images must be clear, in focus and well lit (not flash) and a minimum of 1200 pixels in size (digital) or 5"x7" (or larger) prints. If the photographs sent for your drawing are unsatisfactory then I will not be able to complete the drawing and your images and deposit will be returned.
